Today was going to be a bit of a nothing day but as it happens it turned out to be quite different to what we had planned!!! I had got a bus timetable for my neighbour Belinda and she and I have said we are going to investigate the local bus service - this is because Belinda does not drive and when Das is working she just might want or need to get somewhere. Droushia is serviced by the 641 which starts in Polis and ends at the Karavela Bus Terminal in Paphos Old Town and from there you can go all over the island. There is an early morning bus which passes through and another early afternoon so it is quite limited if all you want to do is go down to Polis or up to Paphos but we still plan to try it. Anyway in chatting I had mentioned Sto Mouseio in Kato Akourdaleia as a venue she might like to visit with Das or visitors when they get to have visitors and she thought it sounded lovely. We ascertained that it was open on a Monday and I asked her if she would like a trip out (as a pre-cursor to our Thelma and Louise bus adventure) to see where it was. She jumped at the chance!
It was peaceful and chilled at Sto Mouseio and we found a lovely shady spot to sit down and take in the atmosphere. Belinda loved it and will definitely be going back. We had a nice cold drink and a fruit platter and a chance to have a catch up - although she and Das live opposite we have not seen either of them since our Wedding Anniversary drinks.
Our quiet afternoon was followed by an invitation to Nicky and Mark's to celebrate the completion and filling of their beautiful swimming pool. It really is lovely and so different from all the other pools around - the tiles are fabulous muted natural shades but now that the water had gone in it has a subtle blue hue to it. The tiles are non slip and feel warm and soft underfoot and although the water has only just gone in it was a fabulous temperature.
Amazingly it looks even bluer when the light is on at night. Both Charlie and Boris came to give it their seal of approval and we sat around in the water or on the edge for ages chatting and talking about how the remainder of the outside space might now be developed and used - understandably they want to live with this for a while enjoying it before embarking on their next big project. My mind was full of ideas!!
Big hats off to Nicky for her upholstery of the second hand outside chairs they recently purchased - they look really great and are comfortable. She had to apologise for the make-shift table but we don't mind - we remember having to make do with things when we were working on ours all those years ago. It's amazing though that there is now so much more choice than when we were creating our home 10+ years ago - you only have to look at how all the other residents on the estate are developing their properties to see what I mean - for instance today we drove past 1a (Sonia's) to see that it was being completely clad in blue insulation - once completed it will be covered up and painted. It will be interesting to see what a difference that makes.
