Some small victories

Alleluia!!!!! Woke Snowflake Jobsworth is indeed a complete twat and has kindly sent me an email confirming this.  WSJ has a name and his name is Matthew and Matthew has consulted his Manager and the manager has told him not to be a twat and of course our claim is covered and furthermore because he has been such a twat he is to also cover any other incidental costs which would not normally be covered.  This is good news and is the right result - it is just a shame it took so many fraught emails until we were able to come to a satisfactory conclusion.  This leaves me exhausted and I wonder how other people cope - my guess is they give up when told "No" and do not fight their corner.  20 years of working in a solicitor's practice (albeit in IT) taught me not to stop fighting if I thought I was in the right, no matter how long it might take.

Having said all this I was at home to some major twattery this morning when I managed to lock George and Pam's keys inside their house and bring home the wrong ones.  I cannot believe that John was so calm about my stupidity and merely sighed, armed himself with several steps and went up and over our fence into next door and then up and over next door into George's and then return with the keys because we had, fortunately, left the lounge window open to air the room.  Phew!

I nipped across the road to see Belinda this morning.  She is no longer working at the Gravity Road and is planning a trip back to the UK to see her new grandchild and then will return to look for new challenges.  She and Das and Lindy (their rescue dog) now have a rescue cat to keep them company - this little leggy scrap is Lola who is super small but super full of attitude.  She was fascinated by my glass of water and once my back was turned she had her head right inside!!!

On the subject of cats, John managed to lance the abscess on the base of his tail which was accompanied by a lot of squealing and disgruntlement but he did allow us to clean him up and we have found that the spray antibiotic we have doesn't bother him which is good as it dries to a powder unlike the iodine which stains everything and the Dermagel which is greasy and leaves marks.

In order to prevent him from licking it all off (although if it tastes anything like it smells I would think he might do it once and then never again) he is sporting John's home made super collar which restricts the areas he can reach.  All together this seems to be working but poor Charlie is feeling very sorry for himself and is flopped out all the time on any cool patch he can find.

It is still very hot although the forecast is for a bit of a change in the weather which will be as a result of a blanket of dust which is about to engulf the island.  There was a fire nearby today too - I don't think it can have been anything too serious as the water carrying helicopters were not in action.  There are currently some terrible fires in Greece and Turkey.

We haven't been walking for a while - it has simply been too hot and then with my periodontal treatment I didn't feel like it and as a result my energy levels have been zapped.  We decided to walk into the village to check the cemetery and check the post and call into the next door garden to have a cold drink with Philippos.  He had some cracking fresh orange juice which tasted like the mandarin juice that Mum used to get for us and it really hit the spot.  The grapes in the garden are the best we have ever seen them - it is just a shame there are pips in them - I really hate it when you think you have removed them all and then take a bite and crack a pip!

Our post office is also a little shop and Philippos has an interesting array of old and dusty postcards - I guess these will soon be most definitely a thing of the past with modern technology which allows you to create postcards from photographs you take on your mobile phone.  I tickled me that there is one card in particular which shows chickens humping or fighting - take your pick - who exactly would want to send this card home as a memento of their wonderful holiday???
