The morning after the night before...

We had a very quiet day today recovering from our anniversary that we did nothing at all so I am filling this post with memories of last night.  We asked a few friends and neighbours to come and have a drink with us and because John didn't want me to be cooking or sorting out nibbles we got Ali to put together some finger food.  I can only assume she thinks people have 10 fingers on each hand by the amount of food she pitched up with!

We had planned for people to sit in various places around the garden but they had other ideas and so we ended up all squeezed into the gap at the back of the kitchen and it was only this morning when we realised we could have shuffled the furniture about a bit more and brought down the seating that is up on the roof terrace to make things more comfortable.

We had all sorts of delicious things to eat with lots of flavour and colour from pork and peach kebabs which is a strange combination but really works to little filo cups filled with brie and blackberry, spicy meatballs, Asian chicken salad and little smoked salmon morsels.  We shall be eating it or sharing it for the next few days.  Nicky very kindly made a fabulous lemon cake for us which shamefully I forgot to photograph but in my defense it was a struggle to get things somewhere cool and then once they were out they had to be served fairly quickly as it was a warm evening.

We did eventually move around to the dining table under the gazebo when our lovely neighbour Das brought round his Bazouki to play for us and he was joined by Lakis who was in the mood for a song.  At the end of the post I will put up a bit of video - it will confirm what we already know - Lakis should not give up his day job in favour of becoming an entertainer.

It was so lovely to have a group of people sitting around and chatting and getting on even though they didn't all know each other at the beginning.  If nothing else it was a good PR exercise for several of the homeowners of Lordos 1.  I was conscious of making sure that no-one was left on the periphery and felt included and I must thank the Bobster who kindly stood up to say thank-you which brought a lump to my throat as it reminded me of Dad doing the same at our 25th.  We are blessed to have such good friends even though I think it is fair to say it has taken some time to find those that are true and trusted.  We did miss those family and friends that we had hoped would have been with us - damn Covid and the bonkers world we are living in.

Lakis I am sorry but this was just a wonderful moment to capture - you are a treasure!
