Dave returns...

We should never forget how incredibly lucky we are to find ourselves, fit and healthy, retired and living in one of the most beautiful corners of this island.  It gets a bit too easy sometimes to lock the gate and stay within the confines of our walled garden which in itself is quite lovely but occasionally it does us good to venture out into the big wide world and take in our surroundings.  Latchi is beautiful - the sea today was the most wonderful colour and this photograph is taken from the terrace of the Latchi Family Resort which is set in over 60 acres and which in its heyday would have been the most spectacular of holiday venues - it has had a bit of a checkered history of late with it closing and then reopening as a Yoga Retreat and then closing again but for the last couple of years Argy's hotelier brother Andros has had some input and influence and, if things go to plan, this resort will once again be the jewel in Latchi's crown - fingers crossed because this is exactly what the resort and the area needs.

This is the view from one of the rooms.  Currently the rooms are quite traditional with high ceilings and archways and old furniture which has been upcycled but nicely tiled floors and modern bathrooms.  It would be right up our street if it were a smaller resort and we wanted somewhere cheap and cheerful to lay our hats.

I think it is currently operational on an all inclusive basis.  In previous years locals have been able to go into the restaurant to avail themselves of the buffet for a bargain price.  I am not sure that this is the case today but Argy was telling us that the resort has benefitted from the government incentive to get Cypriot Residents to holiday on the island.

We had good news this evening that Ellen's cat Dave has come home.  Before moving here Ellen had been feeding three cats at the house they rented in Sea Caves.  She was a bit sad that two of them seemed to have moved on and she had had an abortive attempt at capturing the third the other day but successfully got him and brought him up here where he settled for the day but then wanted out and she let him out into the garden and he disappeared.  She had been looking for him, as had we, and I had contacted Ross who feeds the ferals at the Droushia Heights to look out for a new ginger and white.  Apparently Dave got hungry and returned to his new home but not before having a scrap with Andreas two kittens at 4a!!!

We were a bit concerned that we had a strong smell of fire outside before we went to bed.  We did a recce round but couldn't see anything and then the smell went so no idea what caused it but happy it was nothing sinister.
