The Pug gets looked at

This is our little girlie-whirlie Minnie-Mou, generally a very nervous and skittish cat I found her this morning, away with the fairies, on the spare bed looking so comfortable, relaxed and safe that I was half tempted to join her but I just shut the door and left her too it.   She is never far from the house and generally will come when you call her but she only likes us to give her a cuddle first thing in the morning and last thing at night other than that she runs away flinching.  We don't know what happened to make her like that, when we first had her she was cuddly and loving all the time and then she suddenly stopped coming into the house and garden - it took us months to get her to trust us enough to return.   Something happened to her but we will never know what - maybe one of the feral cats from up the road came into the garden and attacked her?

I couldn't join her because, it being Wednesday, I was on my way to see Mum and have lunch with her. En route I generally fit in a bit of shopping for things that I get in Paphos.  This is currently becoming increasingly difficult as we have seen all sorts of products disappear from the shelves and not just imported goods.  Pouches of cat food and treats only appear sporadically and when they do the local jungle drums start beating and they are gone as quickly as they arrive and prices of everything are increasing quite alarmingly and the long hot and very dry weather is wreaking havoc with the quality and quantity of fruit and veg available to us.

Lilian was joining us for lunch today - we were having cheesy beans on toast.  Mum has recently had some blood tests which indicate she is lacking in iron.  We have had a full and frank discussion on her diet (or lack of it) and she agrees that she needs to embrace things which will naturally increase her iron intake and I will make sure that on Sundays we have a meal which includes red meat and green veggies rather than ham egg and chips!

The Pug is having a little visit to Andreas's garage now that the holidays are over and he is back up and fully operational.  The Pug has developed a sort of vibration which is most noticeable when you pull away from a junction and turn right - as the current thinking is that we will try and sell The Pug if we get a new car John wanted to make sure that whatever is causing it is fixed.  We took the road down to the garage which passes by John and Susan's old house which has had a complete make-over and looks a completely different place now.  I shall have to try and find an original photograph to compare.

You cannot see from this photograph but The Pug is inside up on a ramp being investigated - initially John thought the vibration may have been caused by a dodgy engine mount but Andreas indicated that he thought it was some sort of wheel strut thingamebob.  Anyway we will know tomorrow if that has fixed the problem - fingers crossed it has and that it wasn't an expensive job.

I went to Shuks today to get meat for us and meat for Argy and Sonia and John and I decided to have his pork koftas with salad and potatoes for tea.  The latest batch are bigger in size than we had previously and they are so meaty that one is enough for me - they are really nice and I add a bit of piri-piri seasoning to give them added spice.

We bought a new light fitting for outside off of one of the buy/sell sites on tintyweb - John saw it and thought it would be perfect to cast better light over the dining table outside.

He put it up today whilst I was at Mums and tonight we tried it for the first time.  He was right it lights up that area perfectly.

We just need to spend a bit of time tomorrow morning sorting out the greenery that is growing along the underside of the gazebo to make sure it doesn't interfere with the light.  We should manage to fit that it as we have very little else planned save that Nicky and Mark are coming over for a catch up - they have been so busy working that we haven't seen them much at all for the past couple of weeks.

We watched the test match this evening - India were skittled out in their first innings and for once the England opening batsmen did not capitulate in sympathy.  Day one was an exciting day so John will be glad we don't have much planned so that he can settle down and watch some of it tomorrow.
