This morning we were doing some garden tidying in readiness for winter. This is the original passion flower cut right back - it will, next summer spread the length and breadth of the back wall from the shower to the barbeque and runners have provided the shade for the two gazebos in the back garden. One is located in Wendy and Bill corner and the other providing shade over our outside eating area.
We think our neighbours might be here this coming weekend as it is a Bank Holiday - Thursday marks Oxi Day
(Oxi Day commemorates the rejection by Greek dictator Ioannis Metaxas of the ultimatum made by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini on 28 October 1940, the Hellenic counterattack against the invading Italian forces at the mountains of Pindus during the Greco-Italian War, and the Greek Resistance during the Axis occupation).
Although they have taken huge steps to make their house a lock up and leave the two beds at the front of the house manage to thrive without any help at all so today we wanted to clear it up a bit so that they can at least walk to the front door unrestricted.
Either end they had planted Protea aka Ladies Fingers which were making a bid for freedom and the only time John has got up close and personal with a rather nasty snake was when we cleared the same from the side of the drive where we park the car - nothing nasty like that today but a lot of waste to be cleared and it looked a bit bare when I had finished.
John was concentrating on the trees that Gregoris wanted taken down, one in the green area and the three olives in the internal garden. It took us quite a while to get them down and out of the way and the rubbish removed and got rid of.
This afternoon we went down to Polis via the post office in the village. John had to go and collect his car from the upholsterer and I wanted to get my Cardiologist referral from Dr Manolis. It was busy in the Doctor's waiting room and there is no recognised queueing system so I sharpened my elbows and got in to see him as quickly as I could. I explained what had happened regarding the stress test and the beta blockers and the outbreak I had at the weekend and so Dr Manolis decided I should also go and see the dermatologist he had rung when I had my initial problem. Deep Joy!!!
John was thrilled with the job Costas had done on his car - he really is a brilliant guy and the Pug will continue on for a while longer yet.
