A lovely Sunday

One of the things which Janet brought over for us was a new Alexa.  Our old Alexa has probably suffered from being in the warmth of the conservatory and the speaker has gone so we decided to set up the new one in the conservatory and move the old one into the kitchen so that it can be used to record my shopping list.

To avoid confusion we have renamed the old Alexa and she has now transitioned to Ziggy complete with a male voice.  It's really handy to have him on the microwave to shout out things which I need to buy on my next foray into Paps.

We were having a quiet morning because today the plan was to go for Sunday Lunch at the Farmyard and Mum was joining us.  This was Stan's choice and we like Sunday lunch there so we had booked for first sitting.

JJ&S had a busy morning with a number of visitors including Nicky and Mark who were out on a walk and wanted to go have a nosey around their accommodation.  Poor Janet and Jackie weren't actually up when they poked their heads around the door so Stan had to think on his feet and give them some warning that they needed to be decent!

Rachel had kindly put us on the round table in the corner which made it easier as we have two people with hearing difficulties!!!  The meal was lovely.  There was vegetable soup which was good because sometimes it is mushroom and Mum wont eat that (nor John for that matter) then there was the salad bar which included the fabulous spicy pork salad that they do.  Then the carvery, I just stuck with the beef which was superb and cooked exactly how I like it and finally puds!!!

We all returned to the Corner House so that Mum could see where the others were staying and what the accommodation was like and we knew it was becoming clear that JJ&S want to return next year and so we contacted the owner and sorted it there and then.

We had some time to ourselves this afternoon which was welcome because I realised that along with John's birthday on Friday, Marks is on 17th and Richards on 24th so I needed to sort out a couple of birthday cards.  I find mens cards so difficult to do but it is the thought that counts.

On that subject we have been thinking of Rob, all the talk of the Queen's funeral and his mum's funeral is tomorrow.  Whatever the circumstances and no matter how old the person is it is always a sad occasion.  Anyway we hope things go well tomorrow and it is not too difficult for everyone concerned.

This evening we had all been invited to George and Pam's for a drink as had Lakis and Argy but we had not told them we were going and George and Pam were in on the secret so we were waiting to see them walk across this evening when Argy spotted me - I wished her a nice evening as she did me and she was still none the wiser!!!

We had to wait for Stan to turn up - earlier in the day Roula had been with some replacement lightbulbs and a massive chunk of fresh anari cheese which they wanted to share with George and Pam and Lakis and Argy.

We had a lovely evening - it was walm and balmy and we sat outside all the time.  It took a little while to get everyone chatting but we soon got it sussed and the time flew by.  It was great for George to be able to show off the newly refurbished patio and he is very pleased with the newly installed orange tree which balances the lemon tree.  We had some laughs along with some nibbles and plenty of wine/beer/ouzo/zivania!!!

As we came to leave our neighbours Derek and Janet had just arrived back after 3 months - where on earth did that time go???  We shall no doubt catch up with them soon.
