Au Revoir to The Crew

So we have finally come to the Crew's last day.  Last days are quite sad because we never know what might happen before we see people again.  The Crew were not leaving for the airport until 8pm so we wanted to make the most of the day.  It started with me taking Janet back to see the dermatologist.  We had a bit of a wait before going in but we got to see Dr Nikos who was very pleased with the wound's progress.  He then gave Janet some potassium permanganate to dilute when she gets home and then she is to place a soaked pad on the wound twice a day for 20 minutes at a time.   Hopefully it wont be long before the nasty 'thing' that was on her leg is long gone.

We returned to Droushia to help them vacate the Corner House which has been their happy home for the last three weeks and will be their home again next year as they are returning although a little later in the year.

They had left a nice card and a little gift for the owners Giorgos and Nikki - some place mats and coasters which they had missed having.   We managed to get everything back to our house and pack away all the left over food and toiletries - I will have more tomorrow when George and Pam leave!!!

We then sat down for the remainder of the time left.  I had asked Mum to come up and join us for lunch so she could have some company and also say her goodbyes.  Mum's friend Lilian has been feeling unwell recently so I don't think Mum has seen as much of her as normal and I guess she will be feeling quite sad about the news we had on Sunday regarding my cousin.

I decided to empty the contents of the fridge as there were lots of bits and pieces that needed eating up and I had made some coleslaw earlier in the morning and boiled some eggs to make egg mayonnaise and then yesterday in Paps I had seen some nice Koupes which I thought Jackie might like to try and I know Mum likes them.

We were able to sit outside to have lunch - there will be no outside dining for the Crew on their return as the forecast for the UK is very cold so it was good to be able to do it one last time.  I have to admit I am quite looking forward to going back to some kind of normal eating pattern - I have put on weight and I don't think I can put it all down to the medication I am on!!!

One of my projects for the next year is to try and resurrect the gardenia plant which the Crew bought as a gift but which did not survive sufficiently to do so!!!

The Crew bought me a gardenia one holiday and I carefully nurtured it and then it failed on me.  I did cut it back and put it outside and it has actually begun to put on some new growth so I hope the same will happen to this one.  I think part of the problem was that they kept it in the wrapper so it sat in water.  Anyway time will tell.

At 8pm the time had come for John to take them to the airport.  Last time he managed to collect a speeding fine when he came off the motorway and headed for the airport so he was mindful not to make the same mistake again!

Apparently the airport was chaos but we did get a message that they had made it through to departures, apparently Stan was stopped but we don't know yet why - John is going to speak to his mum on Friday giving her tomorrow to catch up on her sleep as it will be the wee small hours before she finally gets home.

So goodbye Crew until next year - we have had a lovely time sharing Droushia with you and I think next year will be even better!
