The trimmings go up...

We had a small window of opportunity to get the house trimmed up in readiness for our early Christmas Day on Wednesday.  So we were up and at 'em taking things down and dusting surfaces off as the decs are going to be up for quite some time.  It was good to know we were starting with a nice clean room.  Trimming Up is always a fraught affair.  We have no 'theme' we have no set pattern and we have no agreement!!!  It is always good to have a divorce lawyer on quick dial!!

We did eventually reach some consensus which was achieved by one of us saying "Shall I put this here?" and the other saying "If you like" without looking up.  It works!!!  and although we say every year that we have more than enough decs we always seem to need more.  John was short on Tinsel so we agreed to nip into Jumbos later in the day before picking Jane and John up and taking them to the airport.

The tree had been put away already trimmed from when we did Christmas with John's Mum but I had wanted to add more lights so it all had to come off and we had to start again.  Having done it I am not convinced the new string has any more lights but I am not going to tell John that!!!

All the presents for Wednesday were brought out of the spare room and placed under the tree - we can actually now see the bed.  There is a small pile for each one of us - we are going to have the majority of our presents on Wednesday as a family.  I have made a lot of mine this year and I hope people like them.

We managed to get square so that we could shoot off to the Mall.  I had totally underestimated just how busy Jumbos was going to be on a Saturday a few weeks from Christmas Day.  It was manic and we were concerned we would get to the check out and have to leave our purchases because time was running out.

In the end we managed to get a few things - enough for John to finish what he wanted to do and pay and get to Jane and John's in reasonable time.  In fact they were still getting the accommodation sorted out to hand it back.  Their two weeks went by so quickly but I think they had a nice time even though they were disappointed that Jonathon hadn't been there to share it with them.

Even though many places are cutting back on their Christmas Decorations that does not seem to be the case in Cyprus.  This is surprising as actually their big celebration is Easter.  Even in the carpark at the airport there was a massive tree of lights - it looked lovely.  I took a quick snap through the car window - the car needs a clean!

We heard later that Jane and John had arrived home safe and sound - a bit of a delay getting bags I think.  Now Jane can concentrate on getting ready for Christmas in their new home.  I have told her to take some photos because I cant visualise them in Somerton after all the years that they lived at Beggars Bush,

We made our way back home and quickly reheated the leftover chili so that we could have something to eat.  John must have been full of Christmas Spirit because he suggested watching a Christmas Film and because I am just about the only person in the world not to have seen Elf that was the one which we chose.

It set us up nicely.  I love Christmas.
