It was another lovely day and I spent some time looking around the garden to see what was what. We are having lovely days with long spells of bright sunshine but then this is followed by a very cold night with a frost.
I protected a few plants in the garden with some fleece but I am thinking that I should have done something with the Pakistanos in the front garden because it is looking a bit frazzled and the Poligala in the back garden which I cut back months ago shows no sign of life whatsoever which is a bit of a shame.
It is nice to be able to get out in the fresh air even if it is very fresh! I am pleased that the weather is dry and bright for Sheila and Klaus's family because where they are staying down on the other coast it is bound to be a few degrees warmer than up here and in the sunshine it is actually very pleasant. I hope they are having a good time - I shall look forward to hearing all the news from Sheila when we catch up next.
Strangely even though it has been quite nippy at night to say the least I have one basil plant in the trough outside the kitchen door that is still in leaf and this normally is one of the first things to suffer with the cold. Hopefully it will hold on and survive. The forecast shows little change over the next few weeks so I hope Jan and Derek have their thermals to hand when they arrive the weekend after next!On the weekly menu for tonight was something to go with some egg fried rice which was in the freezer. John had taken out a pork tenderloin - or at least he hoped it was a pork tenderloin - it was quite difficult to be sure from the lump of meat he found - fortunately it was what we expected and I found a nice recipe for a Pork dish with a Thai peanut sauce. It looked a bit anaemic in the picture but was very tasty and there is enough left for John to have for his lunch when I go to Mum's on Thursday.
Nothing else to report on today - a bit of a nothing day really. Tomorrow is Valentine's Day - we have nothing planned!
