It was a cloudy but bright day. I was going out to lunch with Mum and Lilian and had changed my clothes a million times because it is difficult at this time to year to work out what it will be like indoors - generally chilly if the room gets no sunshine. We were eating at Sonny's again - Mum's choice and I was picking up Lilian and then going across and picking up Mum. There were spectacular clouds today and what I call Big Skies - interest in every direction.
Lilian lives on the edge of Peyia up and down a couple of ravines. Due to the road works in Peyia the first ravine is part of the new diversion. No-one seems to have told the digger driver that was flattening some land. At this point the road is only wide enough for one vehicle at the best of times but with a bloody digger was amost impossible. This area was obviously very rural in the past as there are still a couple of ancient small holdings there and there were two escapee goats making the most of a bank of weeds and wild flowers right next to a residential area.
We had a lovely lunch. Mum dearly wanted someone to share some spare ribs with her and so I did - I hadn't wanted a huge lunch anyway so it was a good compromise and I have to say the ribs were lovely and more than enough for the two of us - in fact I brought some home.
Mum seemed to enjoy being out with Lilian and I and was chattier than she can sometimes be. We are not seeing one another tomorrow on my birthday because Mum and Lilian are going to Stage One Theatre with Sue and Fran. So this was an early celebration for me and meant that mum got to do something today and tomorrow.
Lilian and I went back for a cup of tea with Mum before saying our goodbyes and I then dropped Lilian off and made my way back home where John was waiting for me. He was making pizza for tea tonight and that worked out well not having had a full portion of ribs for my lunch.
We had received an invitation to my nephew Michael's wedding which is later in the year so whilst John was being chef I was trying to find a suitable flight. Bloody hell flights are extortionate - a five day trip with no baggage is just short of 700 euros but I went to Ellie's and I went to Matthew's so felt it only right that I went to Michael's.
John was being a bit secretive tonight I am not sure quite what he is up to but I know he has been organising something for my birthday. He said he was taking me somewhere for lunch. 63 where the hell has that time gone? I can't believe it is three years since he organised my special birthday party at the art gallery in Paphos. He did such a good job and then a few days later the world went bonkers and we were locked down and curfewed because of Covid.
We are generally not normally that lucky - if the lockdown had been one week earlier all that planning for my party would have gone out the window.
Anyway he has been going down to check the post and tucking some cards away ready for tomorrow and he said we are having a lazy morning and a bit of a lie-in and if I am a good girl then breakfast in bed. Bless him - I just hope he has given the cats the brief so they give me a good night's sleep.
