Why is it when you have an early start you have the most awful night's sleep? John and I were awake at about 5.00am and having a coffee and a chat and then went back to sleep and almost overslept! Anyway I was ready for my 9.30am departure from Lordos 1 with Jan and Gail. Gail had kindly offered to drive because she wanted to go to a shop in Limassol on our way. I was quite happy because she used to be a driving instructor and so drives steadily and I don't get nervous!
Jan was ecstatic to think we would be going to PoliHome as she had ordered two 'peacock' chairs from them for her lounge and wanted to see what else they had to offer. Their website is full of lovely things and Gail had seen a small cloakroom sink and vanity unit that she wanted to get for the builder to get cracking so we were expecting quite a large shop to peruse. As it happens it isn't a big shop, it is a nice shop with some lovely stuff in it but everything has to be ordered which was a bit disappointing because even if they order they cannot tell if it will actually be in stock or if it is, when it can be delivered. It did give us lots of ideas of things we would look for when we got to Ikea which was where we were headed.
En route I suggested that possibly Leroy Merlin (which is near Ikea) might have what Gail was looking for in stock and ready to take away. That sparked some interest because actually non of us have ever been there so as we were going to pass it prior to arriving at Ikea we decided to have a nosey.
Omg Leroy Merlin has everything you could possibly want (sorry about the crap photograph) and we were in raptures. Gail had a choice of vanity units and they were in stock and she could take one away!!!! We really could have spent the remainder of the day there so have decided to go back again and soon to really check it out because there was so much more than we had time to see.
Ikea was almost an anti-climax after Leroy Merlin. However we made our way to the restaurant to have a sit down, chat and some lunch and then did the walk of walks around the whole of Ikea. I only wanted a couple of things but noticed how much the prices have increased. The octopus I wanted for the clothes line has increased from €5.00 to €6.50.
On our way home John called to say that the cycling crew less Richard (who was on an airport run) were having a meal out so I invited Gail and Jan to have lasagne - I hadn't put the spare one in the freezer so was able to get it cooked quickly and there was enough salad left for the three of us.
All in all a very enjoyable day going to the 'Big City'!
