No rides for the CODS today - the weather is too changeable so John and I had the day to ourselves which made me think that it was Saturday all day.
We started the day with a trip to the Doctors for me to have my cholesterol and triglyceride blood tests. There seems to be new staff and possibly a second doctor at the Evangelismos and both the girl on reception and the girl who took my blood were very nice - I didn't feel a think - nothing at all and the results should be back tomorrow when I go and see the Orthopaedic Consultant about my dodgy shoulder.
Anyway I was in and out of the Doctors in about 4 minutes and then we went off on a voyage of discovery to go and find the Polis and Latchi Cat Park so that we could see for ourselves where the blankets had gone. We were meeting Norma but she had had to shoot off to the vets with an emergency so we waited for her outside. We always have cat treats in the car and so John started to look like the Pied Piper (or is that reservoir cats) as more and more felines emerged from their sanctuary to come and see what he was giving away.
There are cats in all sizes, shapes, colours and ages including some new born kittens that we got to see briefly peeking out from the safety of Mum's belly.
The cat I am cuddling just wanted to love me to death and was super affectionate and lovely and there was one little ginger and white that I could have taken home immediately. We first saw him (Hunter) running around in the long grass trying to catch a butterfly - jumping about 2 metres in the sky trying to grab it.
There was also a gang which Norma affectionately referred to as 'The Gummies' because not one of them has a single tooth in their mouths!
Bless the cats - they all deserve some love and affection and bless the volunteers who do exactly that - Norma said they try and provide a 'home from home' so there are lots of chairs and throws inside reasonably waterproof buildings. We will go back but as I said to Norma I could not commit to volunteering because I would want to have them all.
We left the sanctuary and headed off to Latchi because John wanted me to track a ride that he is planning for the CODS - a big one - which it will be! This culminated in going to the garden centre where we had brunch (I could not eat before the blood test) which couldn't come quick enough. This was the breakfast and it was very nice too. We picked up a bag of compost and a pot that I wanted and then headed off to Paps for a bit of shopping before going home.
We took a little detour on the way home to navigate some roads we had seen whilst planning the 'Big One' It is quite a surprise to see beautifully manicured gardens so close to Polis and the fact that you can drive alongside is amazing. I am sure the CODS will appreciate it if they get a chance to take it all in!
