After a long long break of not doing any walking I was up early and out with Nicky this morning. It had been a wild and stormy night but we managed to go out and do our 5Km without getting wet although there were times when it looked like we might. We walked down from Droushia, through Inea, back into Droushia and then home. Whilst we were out the boys with the addition of Mark were out on their bikes. It was Mark's introduction to the CODS. He has bought himself a new bike and it trying really hard to improve his fitness.
The weather is so much colder and unsettled than we would expect it for this time of year. We are used to the fact that the clouds gather over Droushia but last year we were making an average of 17Kw of electric a day and so far we have struggled to make anything like. I could see that down on the coast it was much brighter which was good because I had arranged to go and meet my friend Yve at the Garden Centre for a long overdue catch up.
The further towards the Garden Centre I got the better the weather became. It would appear that it is located in a spot which has its own ecosystem! It was busy there but I managed to get a table and Yve was already in the polytunnel checking out the plants for sale. Yve is, amongst other things, a medium and had the most engaging calm personality. We sat in the cafe chatting, and eating and a couple of hours absolutely flew by. We have agreed to try and meet up monthly if we can or at least to pencil it into the diary so that it focuses our minds.
On my return I went straight out to The Farmyard to catch up with Rachel. She is so under pressure, not least because she had a nasty fall today and hurt herself. She has guests staying at Villa Maria for Easter and the garden needed tidying. I told her I was more than happy to give her a hand unless it was absolutely hoofing it down. It did rain a little but nothing too much so I managed to get the borders as you approach the villa tidy and free of weeds and the Kumquat trees cleared and cut back into a neater shape. She was so grateful for my help but as I said to her that is what friends are for. If nothing else it gave us a chance to have a catch up - we haven't had an opportunity for a chat for months.
