Today Jan, Ellen and I were off to Ikea and Leroy Merlin in Nicosia. I was driving and we were leaving early to miss the height of what had forecast to be a very very hot day. Our departure was not without issue when I could not find the keys to the Note after John had moved it. We eventually set off about 20 minutes late with the spare - I don't know quite what happened, whether John moved the car and then put the keys in my bag, but when I came to leave and pick up the car keys they were not there. I never even thought to look in my bag because I hadn't put them there. Anyway we made it and whilst in Ikea I discovered that the keys were in my bag so they weren't lost which was a bonus.
We found Ikea easily courtesy of Google Maps - just head for the general hospital in Nicosia and you are sorted because it is practically opposite Ikea!!! It is just a bit of a long and boring drive and I realised that even though I was driving an automatic it really aggravated my poorly shoulder.
We had a good old mooch around Ikea and I picked up a couple of small things along with the turntable thing that Nicky wanted before we put all our purchases in the car and set off for the restaurant for some lunch. A big thanks to Ellen for paying for our lunch which was lovely of her. After lunch we then set off on our way home via Leroy Merlin which is just round the corner from Ikea.
Whereas Ikea is air conditioned Leroy Merlin is not and on the hottest day of the year it was almost unbearable in there, lord knows what they do in the height of the summer! Anyway it is a massive shop with all sorts of household items at good prices and Ellen was like a child in a sweetie shop taking photographs of all sorts of things she might want in her about to be built new bathroom! We might have stayed longer had it not been about a million degrees in there!
We came home via Peyia and stopped at the Oasis Cafe/Bar for a drink and to share a sandwich between us which Jan paid for. It was glorious sitting out on the terrace on a beautiful balmy evening having had a lovely day.
