Lovely friends for lunch

Today we were having Sheila and Klaus here for lunch.  Long overdue really - we managed to squeeze them in before my Sister arrives on Wednesday.  We always enjoy their company.  They are good friends and we do miss them not being just down the road.  The are not a million miles away but it is not somewhere we pass so we have to make sure we make time to see them.  John shot off to go and pick up our renovated garden chairs.  We have had them years and they came to us second hand but we love them because they are comfy and they recline.  They did have footstools to go with them and had we known about the upholsterer in Polis at the time we would have had them done rather than get rid but hindsight is a wonderful thing.  Anyway they are back and looking good as new and we are very pleased particularly as we had some fab news over the weekend...

Our super crazy friend Sal (seen her on the right, I am on the left and Sal's Mum is in the middle sat in the back of a stretched limo on Cheryl's hen do) and her husband Tommy and Cheryl and her husband Frank have big celebrations this year.  Both Cheryl and Sally are 50 and Cheryl and Frank celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary (so the photo was taken 25 years ago) and they are coming to Cyprus to recreate some of the crazy times we had together all those years ago.  We cannot wait particularly as they will be staying up the road from us - undoubtedly the girlies will want a comfy chair to do a bit of sunbathing if they are round here and now we have ours back all spick and span.

We had a lovely lunch with Sheila and Klaus - we started with a freshly made pea and mint soup which we had warm.  I cannot get my head round cold soup and neither can Klaus!!!  We sat outside in the garden and the temperature was lovely - the only trouble was that we had a load of flies trying to take advantage of our food which was quite unpleasant so we had to get a whacker at the ready.  They were actually quite dozey so got wiped out fairly easily.

Main course was crispy pork thai stir fry with noodles which was fabulous - it is such a good recipe and Klaus and Sheila are a bit partial to spicy and Klaus said I had got that just right which is good to hear.  John did the pudding which was a nice refreshing lemon fool with crushed shortbread biscuits.

All in all a lovely lunchtime with the Knips who we will try and see again before Hazel comes in June.  Sadly Mum phoned to tell us that she had had a fall yesterday after we had left and has scraped her leg again.  I have told her to keep an eye on it and get the surgery to have a look at it on Thursday when she is going for a blood test.

We managed to catch up with Lakis and Argy briefly.  They had the window cleaner there and we were having a non-drinking day because we are both up super early tomorrow as John is out on his bike and the forecast is for it to be very hot and I am going to take some of the girlies to Ikea in Nicosia.
