Today it was all hands to the pump (except the pump was turned off) as we try and work out what has suddenly caused the pool to lose water. John thinks, as he has done for a long time, that the skimmer is the culprit and on closer investigation he realised that the front of the skimmer wasn't sealed or if it had been was no longer.
I was drafted in as Santa's little helper which was fine whilst there was water in the pool because I was able to sit on the plastic stool and work my way around the pool cleaning the tiles and as it was a very very hot day being in the water was lovely. We then made the decision to go the whole hog and get rid of all the water and give the pool a full on clean.
It was hot and exhausting work so when we finally called it a day John had a well-earned beer sitting in the now empty pool! We have no idea if the work that was done to the skimmer has done the trick - we have fingers crossed.
For our evening meal we were using up some of the food which Argy had given us from the Party on Saturday night. I re-roasted the potatoes with some honey and rosemary and minted some peas and then reheated the lamb chops in a red wine, cherry and cinnamon jus with some caramelised onions on the the top. It was absolutely delicious. The reheating hadn't spoilt the chops in the slightest - if anything the addition of the jus just made them taste even better than before if that was at all possible.
It was an absolutely beautiful evening so we sat outside for our meal and then stayed longer enjoying the night air. We wanted to catch up on the last night of Glastonbury which had featured (amongst many others) Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam and the irrepressible Sir Elton John. The make it more in keeping with a festival atmosphere we put on our 7.99 light and bluetooth speaker - very well spent euros from Jumbos!
