Catching up with friends...

There has been a subtle change to the weather with much damper evenings and it is getting lighter later in the mornings but, providing we don't have a rolling morning mist, the sunrises are absolutely spectacular.  I was up early this morning and got to witness the sun beginning to rise up over the mountains.  So beautiful.

My niece Elena, husband Andy and son Jack arrive later today and are staying in the Avanti Hotel in Paphos.  We are lending them the Note so that they can travel around a bit if they want and hopefully go and see Mum.  We know we are going to be busy when they arrive so were squeezing in a quick visit to see Simon and Melanie and the girls Jasmine and Frances as they are spending time up in the village in their house.  We don't see them very often but it is always nice when we do.  The girls are a credit to Melanie and Simon.  Jasmine has turned into an articulate and engaging little girl having been very shy when she was younger.  We always find loads to talk about.  Simon and Melanie used to live behind Mum and Dad in Emba and when we met them we realised that we had so much more in common than the fact that they were buying a house in Droushia.  Simon played in the band that our great friends Hilary and Keith flew over to play in.  Simon's mum lives in Gorran Haven which is just next door to the hamlet my Gran lived in and both Simon and Dad went to St Austell Boys Grammar although many years apart. Simon does a run when he is down in Cornwall which takes him past the house that my Gran used to live in and he always takes a photograph of him sitting on our family memorial bench.

Simon and Melanie got married in the West Country very close to where we lived so we actually had places and people in common.  It is a small world!  Although we are pushed for time we have arranged to meet up on Monday evening and go and have something to eat with them.  It is the least we can do after Melanie had arranged for some extras to go into Elena, Andy and Jack's room when they arrive.  Which hopefully made up for the fact that they eventually arrived there about five hours later than planned.
