We are about to have three lots of visitors in quick succession. All of whom are borrowing one of our cars, to be precise the Nissan Note and we lend it free of charge because we are nice that way. Kenny has an issue with the door catches and so it is proving difficult to shut the doors and for them to remain shut. We don't want to lend Kenny and then find we lose one of our visitors out the door going round a roundabout! We know about the problem and remember to bang the doors shut and lock them so no accidents can occur. So that would be ok as we also have the Qashqai at the moment but the Note has not started now twice in succession. The first time John managed to jump start of his spare 'souvla spit' battery but the second time the Note refused to play. After a quick chat with Richard (an erstwhile car mechanic) it was agreed that the battery was knackered so John took the details and a photo and we went off to Polis to see if the little place in town that does car electrics and batteries was open even though the island is still in the grip of Les Grandes Vacances.
We were surprised but pleased to find the shop open and the brother with the Crystal Tips hair in and working. John went inside to explain the problem and emerged some time later with the biggest industrial sized jump leads I have ever seen. Apparently John has inadequate leads - who knew? Anyway Crystal Tips lent him the businesses billy big boy leads and told John to start the car - it would start with these and then drive the car down so that they could fit a new battery. Crystal Tips was absolutely correct. The Note took one look at the leads and almost started of its own accord!!!! so 90 euros later and we have a new and reliable battery so feel happy now to be lending out the car. We have only had the Note since March and have already shelled out on a new exhaust and new battery. We are beginning to think that we should sell Kenny and the Note and by something newer for me sooner rather than later - I think we will start looking after JJ&S have gone back and I have done my whirlwind trip to the UK for my nephew's wedding.
