We had sort of hoped for a week of peace and quiet between the 23's departure and JJ&S's arrival but we had forgotten about John's birthday, Sunday lunch with Mum (and Lilian), catching up with Jeff and Marianne and then Jeff and Janice plus general living 'stuff' and the icing on the cake, the Nissan Note breaking down. The birthday and meeting up with others was actually lovely but the Nissan Note was unexpected and unwelcome.
Sunday we had arranged to pick up Lilian and go to Mum's and take them out for lunch. It is really pretty difficult to think of where to go because (a) we aren't very familiar with the eateries down near Emba/Chlorakas and (b) mum is pretty fussy. So I plumped for a Sunday roast at the Railway Inn in Chlorakas, we hadn't been personally but the reviews were ok.
First off we had to catch Marky Mark before he and Nicky disappeared off to spend time with his parents who are staying down in Coral Bay. It was Mark's 60th birthday and as a present we had bought him a gift voucher from the Farmyard so that he, and Nicky, could go and enjoy a nice meal.
We then shot off into the village to check the post before going to pick up Lilian and Mum. Some work has been done on one of the properties opposite where we get our post and it has been turned into holiday accommodation and looks very nice. The garden benefits from some wonderful trees which cast a lovely dappled shade.

We picked up Lilian and Mum and went for our lunch at the Railway. It is about the closest that you will get to an English Boozer. The staff were very friendly but I wasn't convinced about them all being dressed in black vests as they were most definitely men and women of a certain age. The food was ok though and not too expensive and Mum seemed to enjoy what she had plus her friends Sue and Fran were in there and came for a chat. All in all quite a successful Sunday thank goodness.
Monday I had physio so we drove down through the village to stop off at the Hotel to get information on Spa Treatments so that I can organise a special day for Jackie and Janet. I will have to forego the pleasure this time because I don't want to aggravate my shoulder. We have realised that the Nissan Note's windscreen washer system isn't functioning and John isn't happy to let Stan have it like that so he wants to take it into the electrical brothers in Polis to have it looked at.
My physio session was excellent - I am really beginning to feel the benefit. My last session is Friday but I think I will add some extra because now when he zaps the area which previously made me cry it isn't anything like as painful.
John booked the Note in for tomorrow and the replacement of the motor for the windscreen washer - this could be quite a costly exercise as it isn't straightforward to access. We decided to go to the cemetery and as we pulled away the Note suddenly sounded like it had turned into a tractor and had no power whatsoever. We thought initially it was the exhaust but then thought it sounded like it was firing on 3 cylinders. John had to limp it down to Andreas who confirmed that the coil pack had gone and it could be replaced the next day. Pardon my French but Shit and Buggery Bugger this is just what we need by way of expense after last week and the next three weeks to come. If nothing else it has made us decide that the Note and Kenny are to be chopped in for something more reliable.
After rather a trying day it was lovely to go out to Mezhn and watch the sun set whilst waiting for Marianne and Jeff. Poor Marianne has been poorly for a long time with a problem of ulcerated mouth and cheeks with no answer as to what it is or what is causing it. We didn't have a late night but we had a nice night and hope that Marianne gets some answers soon - she has lost a lot of weight and is clearly worried and wants answers and who can blame her.
We had strange skies this morning - the forecast was for rain today - as it happens it was hot and muggy and all we got was thunder rumbling around but elsewhere there were hailstones and heavy rain. John got up early to take the Note to the garage - I went down later to pick him up along with a lovely lady called Angela from Nicosia who was staying at the Droushia Heights and who had trouble with her Mercedes - I gave her a lift back from Andreas's garage.
We returned later to pick up the Note complete with a new coil pack and dropped it off at the Electrical Brothers for the windscreen washer motor replacement which meant the Note had to stay in overnight. We then called in to Cyta to change our phones from Pay as You go to contract and to swap them and thereby spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get the new ones to work like the new ones - John's wasn't playing and he was getting grumpy until we realised that the SIM card wasn't in properly and then once rectified we were in business!
We had just about got them sorted when we left to go to Kaponas to meet up with Jeff and Janice Fox. They are the lovely people who have a home at Lordos 2 and who bring the cats a supply of Lick-e-Lix generally at a time when I am running particularly low. Anyway we had a lovely evening at Kaponas - good food and good company. We have struggled to find a time to actually get together for a meal so I was really glad that we did it tonight.
