Visitors arrive...

So today is the day that JJ&S arrive and fingers crossed it will be uneventful and they will be on time as the flight is not due in until 8.45pm so by the time they get through passport control etc and John picks them up and they drive to Droushia it will be a late night for all.

We got the Note back today.  The Electrical Brothers (like the Chemical Brothers only not as tuneful) done good.  We had been expecting another hefty bill because apparently in order to get to the washer motor half the car had to be dismantled and we didn't even know how much a new motor was going to set us back.  In the end the bill was a massive 50 euros and we had been expecting at least three times that amount so that was a present surprise.

At least now we can lend our visitors the car fairly confident that we have dealt with every issue and that nothing else is going to fail or fall off.  All we need to do is make sure that we tell Stan that there is no handbrake only a footbrake which can be a bit confusing and we realise that we failed to mention that to the 23 when they were here.  Still they sussed it and thank goodness the firing on 3 cylinders didn't happen when they were driving, for once the law of sod was on our side which makes a change.

We went down and did the shopping that John's Mum had asked us to get.  Blimey things have gone up not to mention that as from yesterday petrol tipped the scales at 1.65 euros a litre.  The 'few bits' on the list came to a shocking 120 euros and that did not include any booze as that was a gift from us.  I wonder where this is all going to end?  Certainly the island is no longer the cheap haven it used to be and, can you believe it, there were no and I mean NO fresh carrots to be had in Paps so my idea of making Janet some coleslaw went out of the window.

I spent time tidying up our house in readiness for visitors and then John and I sat down to get our new phones finally set up after the frustration of sim-gate yesterday.  Hence the photos of flowers as I was trying out the new camera.  Pretty good and, as I am having to return the Kodak one I bought and which Jan brought out for me and which doesn't work, means that I do have something reasonable to take a snap with.

When John set off for the airport I went and sat in the Corner House awaiting their arrival.  We had made sure that everything was ok and John had rigged up a new solar light over the outside dining table for some additional light and we had taken books and magazines for them along with beach towels and a whole host of other things.

We have cobbled together an itinerary trying to incorporate all the places they wanted to visit and restaurants they wanted to eat at whilst still trying to keep Mum happy and have a bit of down time for us too - that will probably not happen, we can but try - tomorrow for instance I have to shoot down to Paphos for a haircut and still take Mum shopping even though I know it will be the wee small hours before John and I eventually get to bed.

The flight came in on time and they got through reasonably quickly and then before we knew it we were all sitting around the dining table at the Corner House having a drink.  It certainly didn't feel like a year had passed!!!

They had had quite a fraught journey what with one thing and another, not least the awful weather which meant that their suitcases were absolutely soaking.  Still they are unlikely to encounter much rain, if any, over the next three weeks.

Initial reactions to the itinerary were favourable so that is good but as we kept saying it isn't cast in stone and can be altered to suit.

A quiet morning for them tomorrow morning,  John will go down when he thinks they have had a good rest and I will be in Paphos.

We have arranged to eat in the village so can wander up to Kaponas as and when everyone is ready.
