A Busy Day

A big thank you to my mother in law Janet who brought me a potato sack when she came over.  I planted it up with some little new Cyprus potatoes which had started to shoot in the hopes that we might have some fresh new potatoes for Christmas.  It is looking quite hopeful at the moment.  I have dutifully mounded up the new growth until it is now poking above the top of the sack.  I think I have to let it go now until the leaves yellow and drop off and then I can harvest.  Fingers crossed.

I had to go down to AKIS today to pick up a parcel.  We are meeting up with Liselotte and John on Thursday and I realised it is her birthday at the weekend so I wanted to get something for her.  Sadly the man from whom I had bought my interesting Chili seeds is no longer on the island which is a bit of a bugger as I had planned to get her a selection for next year.  Eventually I found somewhere that did mail order seeds and got a selection of more unusual vegetables, be it because of their shape or their colour.  I would normally have tried to make something for her but with all the visitors I just haven't had time.  I am sure she will understand.  I cannot believe the best part of 2023 has gone by and we have only seen her about once.  It will therefore be even nicer when we do get together on Thursday.

Whilst down getting the seeds I also had a pick up at the vets of a rather high tech hula hoop.  I am conscious that I haven't been getting any exercise at all and so I had seen this advertised.  I have to find a video on YouTube so I know how to use it properly but hopefully it might help to get rid of some of the flab!  Apparently this is a Smart Weighted Hula Hoop with all sorts of whistles and bells including a pendulous weight and vibrating suckers!!!

After picking up my purchases from Polis I raced back to pick up Sonia and we went off to Neo Chorio where we were going to attend a sitting yoga class.  With my shoulder I cannot manage the bloody Down Dog position so beloved by yogi.  This class was advertised on Facebook and, as it is being held in a community office, is free of charge to the attendees.  Our English speaking Cypriot instructor has a name which shamefully I failed to remember as it was something out of the ordinary.  She is a gymnast, willowy thin, beautiful and charming.  We had to go armed with a broom handle so looked like we were cleaners en masse!!!  It was gentle and actually harder work than it looked and our mantra is Navel to the Spine.  I hope it is something that will help and that I will stick with.  Sonia and I intend to return next week and go have a coffee afterwards!
