Polis and Pages

I had a load of things to do in Polis before going for my physio.  Not least I need to try and find a small gift for my sister to unwrap when she is here and we exchange Christmas gifts.  To be fair she has already had her present from Mum and us, some pearl earrings so I needed to find something nice which she could put safely in her hand luggage.

I had taken my Christmas cards to the post office to post.  I know it is early but with Laura arriving at the weekend and then my sister coming end November for a week I thought if I left it then I would probably be too late.  It is actually very reasonable to post from here.  60-something cents for a single card and my pack of ten all in one envelope a couple of euros.  I actually feel quite virtuous to have got them sorted and in the post.

I walked down through Polis Square from the Post Office hoping that the gift shop at the end would be open but I was too early - it was all shut up and one of the local cats was waiting for some sign of life.  I decided that I would go and have a look in the Gift Finder tomorrow on my way down to Mums - fingers crossed I will find something!

From the square I drove round to the electrical shop.  I need a new hair dryer or at least I need a spare for when we have visitors so I decided that I should treat myself as the one I use I have had for years.  The people in the electrical shop are lovely, ok it may not be the cheapest but I know that if I have any issues they will sort them out for me.

I like Polis, it has just about everything I need on a day to day basis.  Dotted around the town are a number of massive murals which were done a couple of years ago.  I have to admit I hadn't noticed the lobster before but he is pretty spectacular!

I arrived at Physio early - it's never a problem as either Marios or Socrates usher me into a room almost immediately.  It is a bit of a pleasure pain thing but I really do feel it is doing me good.  The ultrasound massage manages to find every tender spot I have got but if I press the same area with my fingers it doesn't hurt so whatever it is must be deep.

On my return we decided that we should go down to Paphos because John needed to have the tyres rotated on his Quashqai plus he has been going on about having his eyes tested for ages and there were a few things I needed in Jumbos and it meant I could go without having to race round to get to Mums.

The tyre rotation didn't take long, neither did the eye test which confirmed that since John last went in 2019 his eyesight has deteriorated enough to require glasses and not any old glasses he is going straight in for vari-focals.  Oh God I know that he is going to react like he is the only person ever to have to get used to vari-focals!!!  Anyway I managed to choose him a pair that he liked and they will be ready next week.

We did a quick run round Jumbos and then took a bit of a misery tour around Moutallos which ended up with us driving by an amazing looking restaurant hewn into the side of a cliff.  Strangely enough this place is called Cliff Social.  I have heard Nicky and Mark talk about it - I seem to remember them going for breakfast there.  It is certainly somewhere that I would like to try at some point although this isn't likely to happen any time soon as we rarely go down to Paphos to eat!

Sorry for the poor photograph but this evening we had been invited by Jane and John to go and eat with them and Lynne at the apartment they are renting.  I take my hat off to Jane for entertaining using a kitchen which is not hers although I cannot say unfamiliar as they have stayed in this apartment on numerous occasions.  Unbelievably we are into the second week of November and it was more than warm enough to sit outside.  We had a lovely evening so big thanks to the Pages for their hospitality.
