A glorious day and we go walking and shopping...

Another glorious morning in deepest darkest Droushia meant my sister could sit out in the garden, in Joani's place, and enjoy the warmth whilst I did a few bits and pieces.  Back in the UK they are putting out weather warnings for the weekend with a blanket of snow forecast for many areas.  Kaye has been monitoring her heating as she does not want to return home to burst pipes.

It was nice to have an easy morning.  The Chinese takeaway at Mum's doesn't open until 5pm so actually that was our only time critical commitment, the walk and the tat shopping could take place whenever if ever.

Around 1.00pm it was actually getting rather too warm so we decided to go on down to Paphos and, as the coastal path works have now been completed walk along part of it.

The plan was to drive to the harbour, park up and then go along the pathway heading back towards the direction from whence we had come then we would return to the car and be close to the Mall and the Holy Grail which is Jumbos.  Now generally I would say that my sister avoids shopping as much as possible but even she has succumbed to the delights which Jumbos has to offer!!

Before we headed off down to the coast we paid a visit to Dad's grave.  My sister or maybe my mum had bought some gazania plants which were in the smallest pots possible to I cleaned up one of my old triple planters and repotted them.  They seemed to grow immediately.  Anyway hopefully they will thrive for a while and add a splash of colour over the winter period.

There had been a funeral recently - Georgia's father in law had passed away so he is buried in front of Les which is quite apt as Georgia's family home is in front of the house that Clare and Les shared.  Clare contacted us recently to get some information about headstones and surrounds.  She is keen to have something similar to what Bassam did for Elena - it looks less formal than those installed by the monumental masons.  I am not sure what she has decided.

We had a very pleasant drive down to Paphos and decided to do our shopping in Jumbos first and then take our walk along the coast.  The carpark at the Mall was chaotic but fortunately although there were plenty of people in Jumbos we got round quickly and the tills were not as busy as we had anticipated so we managed to get through relatively quickly.

We drove down to the harbour at Paphos and parked up in the large carpark at the end and then walked along past the restaurants to the castle and from there hung a right where they have been working on the coastal path for some time but I had read it was now complete.  It was lovely down there - even though there was more cloud than when we had left Droushia.

We walked as far as the Lighthouse Beach where we stopped and had a freshly squeezed orange juice - possibly the sharpest freshly squeezed orange juice I have had in a very long time!!!!  It was so lovely sitting in the afternoon sunshine feeling the warmth on our skin.  How fabulous for December.  It looks like Kaye will enjoy this weather until the day she leaves and then we have wall to wall storms for at least a week!!!

We had a nice Chinese with Mum - she loves lemon chicken and the portion is big enough to provide her with two decent sized meals and my noodle dish was so huge that it didn't look like I had made much impression on it at all even though I was stuffed.  Kaye decided to show her one of the purchases she had made from Jumbos which was inspired by the Magic Sack gifts when the 23 were here.  I am not entirely sure that Mum knew quite what to make of it really but we all had a laugh!
