It's beginning to look a bit like Christmas!!!

We took Mum shopping for her few bits and then I took her and Kaye to the Elysium.  I had checked that it was open, which it normally is but during the covid years closed over the Christmas period.  I also saw that they had started to put up their Christmas Decorations yesterday so thought it would be a nice place to visit and Kaye hadn't been before.  It was gloriously sunny and the hotel looked lovely.

We decided to have tea and scones and thankfully they were lovely as Mum kept commentating loudly that the last ones she had here were like bullets!!!  Kaye and I were tickled to watch Mum consume two whole scones with most of her pot of jam, all of her cream and some of mine!!!  She really enjoyed it although normally she would have insisted she had to take one home and probably ultimately thrown it in the bin!!!  She must have enjoyed it because she paid for us all!!!

We left Mum sitting in the lounge area and went for a bit of a wander around into the library area to look at the Christmas scene which has been put up there.  It is a lovely hotel but I dread to think what a stay over the Festive Season must cost!!!

It had been a good idea on my part and a success which was good.  In fact I think Mum really enjoyed herself which was good news because last night her internet provider went down (Primetel - I hate them) and for some reason she decided to wander down to a neighbouring house in the dark to ask to make a video call to me to let me know.  She could have just phoned me but she says that nothing was working at all.  We were concerned that she had been out on her own in the dark but pleased that these neighbours (who I think are English and rent the big house) were kind enough to help her although they must have been surprised to see her pitch up late at night.

We had the first lighting of the wood burner tonight - John stoked it up and we nipped out at 6.30 to Fitos to have an evening meal which was lovely - we haven't been for a while - John had a pork chop, Kaye had chicken souvlaki and I had beef stroganoff which was so delicious!!!

We returned home to a beautifully warm house and sat and watched some trash TV for a bit before deciding it was time to call it a day or a night whichever!

Kaye has taken up the offer of the electric blanket so that she is toasty warm as her bedroom is the one which is by the pool and can feel quite chilly.

Tomorrow Kaye is going to Mums on her own.  I have the day at home getting food ready for our evening meal which is going to be coq au vin and I also need to get some things sorted for our meal on Sunday - a pudding is going to be a challenge without dairy!!!

It had been a good day - let's hope the remainder of her trip is as successful.
